Almost 700mt of ferrosilicon have been reportedly adulterated along the highways in India
The Association of Bhutanese Industries (ABI) is looking into to resolve adulterated ferrosilicon practices that seem to be happening along the highways in India.
The adulterated ferrosilicon consignments are still stuck at respective ports in India. However, replacement consignments have been dispatched by the affected companies. The replacement, according to ABI president Pema Tenzin, cost the industries millions.
“The respective companies are making sure that the customers are not suffering because of the problem that we are facing,” Pema Tenzin said.
The ABI had the meeting with Trade Consul of Bhutan based in Kolkata and requested him to facilitate in stopping the adulteration and help them to return those adulterated ferrosilicon back to the country.
“Being an international trade, where consignee is from the third countries, the replaced ferrosilicon is becoming hard to bring back,” he said.
The industries are now deploying people to reach the consignments till Kolkata port in India for export to ensure the safe passage of the vehicles till the port. It has, however, added extra cost. Further adulteration, according to the president, has not been reported since the mobilization of people to escort the consignments.

The industrialists have also recently met in Phuentsholing to follow up on the issue.
Druk Wang Alloys Limited’s Managing Director Chimi Dorji said sending a staff accompanying the consignment is an extra cost for having to paying Daily Sustenance Allowance (DSA).
DWAL has lost 40mn worth of goods and around 17 employees now move along with the goods.
Meanwhile, ABI office believes that this is an organized racket happing mainly along Indian highways in Moregram, Rampurhat, Suiri, Dubrajpur, Durgapur, Panagar and Dankuni.
