Former principal outlines big plans for Chhukha if elected

A former school principal, Sangay Dorji, 38, is one of the aspiring candidates in the National Council elections from Chhukha after having had secured 762 votes from the 1,301 votes casted in Bongo Gewog during the Dhamngoi Zomdu on February 26.

Certain that the time has come now for him to thank the people for what they have given him, the former principal of Sherub Reldri Higher Secondary School in Monggar, Sangay Dorji says he feels better to serve as a Member of Parliament than just give mere talks.

“I have the knowledge of people’s issues and have solutions on mind. I plan to extend support to people in their needs,” he said, pledging that he would take their issues to the highest level of authorities if elected.

“I can’t provide any support personally, but I will guide them for and through smoother procedures,” he added.

Sangay Dorji, who is from Gedu, plans to build conducive-working environment in close coordination with other Members of the Parliament for efficient public service delivery, besides explaining the policy matters to the people and helping any youth coming in conflict with the nation’s laws.

“I will work with them cohesively to smoothen service delivery and inculcate the values of democracy,” he said.

The father of four also has plans to make Chhukha into an exemplary Dzongkhag for democracy in the future, besides also planning to open a personal office to help the needy villagers in the capital.

“I promise that my office will be open all time for your service,” he said during his campaign.

Sangay Dorji, who has now completed tour to all the gewogs during his Dzongkhag campaign, said that responses from the people were overwhelming.

Having 13 years of experience as a teacher and principal, Sangay Dorji said having served at the grass-root level under the Dzongkhag since 2005 has helped him understand people’s problems.

“I have been in the Dzongkhag for more than 10 years and three years in Monggar until I resigned in 2014. Now I am taking this opportunity to thank them for all their support for helping me, including the Dzongkhag staffs,” he added.

Sangay Dorji, meanwhile, has a bachelor’s degree in English from the Paro College of Education in 2004 and masters in Management and Administration in 2010 from the same college. He has also completed certificate and diploma course in management.

“With all these accumulated experience, I think I can serve my community and nation in a better way,” Sangay Dorji said.
