Double accident claims four lives

Four people succumbed to injuries on impact in a double accident in Gangalakga, 30km from Phuentsholing towards Thimphu. A 61-year old man from Phuentsholing, 68-year-old from Geling, and a 59-year-old from Nubi, Trongsa and another man were killed when the vehicles they were travelling veered off around 75m down the cliff on April 24 while coming from Thimphu.

One of them, a woman was discharged, while the driver was referred to Thimphu for further treatment. The others were stable. The main cause according to police was foggy weather and rainfall.

The prime cause, ploice said, was tailgating by another vehicle in foggy weather while heading towards Phuentsholing. The accident happened at around 2pm.

While there were five passengers in one vehicle including the driver, the other had three. Two women aged 22 and 24 and a five year old girl are stable and under observation. The 45-year old driver of the second Prado was injured and admitted to the Gedu hospital. The case is still under investigation.
