Kencho Wangdi, who has been in the film field for some time, is now focusing on the mini-screen with the new Druk Star singing contest as its organizer and anchor.
STORY/SCRIPT WRITER:
Once, I have a story concept in my mind I can sit and start writing a script. Tears flood my eyes when I get into emotional scenes. While creating comic scenes, I laugh like a mad man visualizing Phuba Thinley’s role. Some Bhutanese feature films which I have written are Kilkhor, Kilkhor II, The Guide, Nge Sem Nge Sem and Yue Ghi Bhu.
SINGER:
When I was a student, I always dreamt of becoming a popular singer, but never thought that I would become a producer/director or an actor. My dream came true when I served in Drangchu Beverages as a customer executive in the sales department. My first album was titled as Yoezer which contained the popular Pepsi Pepsi song. I also sang Chang Hupthay Che Ghe Trowa, Palanang Ghi Ahara, and Tasha Layra Laypay Tasha etc.
DIRECTOR:
After experiencing as an actor and writer for few films, I decided to direct my own film since I was confident and learned from my seniors. My practical experience in the field has really helped me in the line of directing a film. The films that I have directed are Kilkhor II & Yue Ghi Bhu.
ACTOR:
I began my acting career in 2004 for my first film Kilkhor, taking the lead role and also won the newcomer male award. The films in which I have acted are Kilkhor, Nge Sem Nge Sem, Kilkhor II, Yue Ghi Bhu, Lamtoen (The Guide), Sergyel, Lue Ghi Dra etc. The toughest part for me is a crying scene and I enjoy action sequences most. I always feel that our daily routine in life itself is acting. We, in the film industry, just imitate what is happening in life.
VISUAL EDITOR:
I had never touched a computer in my life until my first film and never thought I would edit a movie myself. Before I was not interested in visual editing but after giving my full time in film making, I have learned that, to make a perfect film, the combination of story, script, direction and editing has to be perfectly matched. My old friend Tenzin Dorji, the managing director of Bhutan Today, was kind enough to leave the whole editing set with me at night. I am even thankful to Chencho Dorji of Yangchen Pictures who really shared his knowledge with me and by now, I have edited two films, Kilkhor II and Yue Ghi Bhu.
LYRICIST:
As a lyricist I have composed around 32 songs including albums. Some popular songs are Hayma Lay Thong Manong, Chang Hupthay Che Ghe Trowa, Palanang Ghi Ahara, Tasha Layra Laypay Tasha, Eden Eden Nge Sem Khadhen, Boom Laypei Hing Ghi Namsay and Druk Ghi Gyelkhab Ghaway etc.
PRODUCER:
I enjoy more as an actor and director than producing a movie. The headache of a producer begins right from the production time till he earns profit by screening. My latest production is Yue ghi Bhu.
