Watching Miss Bhutan show on TV, I tell you, is a good pastime. But our non-English speaking folks back at home would have enjoyed it more if they could understand what participants said on the screen. So much for the preservation of national language! I don’t drive, which is good because I can ensure my safety from the mechanical failures and avoid the sight of a long queue of pedestrians waiting to cross the road at the intersections. Well, let me admit, I can’t afford a car and I don’t mind putting my legs to good and healthy use. for the right to breathe We now live in a democratic culture and have written constitution that protects an individual’s right. An individual can exercise his/her rights fully provided if it does not clash with his/her duties. In smoking I find a serious conflict of individual liberty and social duty. According to UNDP’s Human Development Report 2009, which was launched on October 21, Bhutan has succeeded to be one of the countries in the region with the highest rural-urban migration rate. This according to the report was as a result of people moving away from rural areas in search of better lives in towns. I am not surprised. And I guess, there are no reasons to be.
